I'm thinking about putting my 12" subs in my mustang and wanting to build an enclosure for each of them. i am wondering is anyone has a smooth fitting design to make these boxes. Open to any suggestions and I have 3 amps i got to fit in back and also the battery is in the trunk.

If anyone has any ideas please reply.

  1. if your goal is a SQ build, then make a sealed encloser for the speakers to the manufacturers' recommended specs.

if your goal is SPL, i recommend you doing a ported box. for tuning, i usually go with 32 Hz which gives a very loud bass and still keeps a decent amount of sound quality. if you just want to be loud and dont care about sound quality, then go with 33~38 Hz for tuning.

since its going in a mustang, the best sound will be given if the box is made to be faced towards the rear of the car, with the subwoofers facing the rear of the car and the port facing the rear of the car too.

again, this will be louder and there for will create more vibrations. if done this way, the trunk might vibrate too and cause undesired noise which can be eliminated by using a deadending material.

as far as helping with the box, i cant. there is no recommended specs nor exact model of subs been used and no exact measurements the trunk of the mustang has available for use (since you have a battery and the amps). but im pretty sure you are capable of doing that.

just look at the model of subs you are using and check for the specs of cubic feet. then just build the box around those numbers.

  2. mtx makes good inclosures for vehicles  so if u can copy what they do or come close you should be ok jsut go to their website and look up thunder form enclosures for your vehicle. you should be good with fiberglass and or wood work if u atttempt this
