  1. a larger than recommended fuse will allow the amp to draw more power than needed and eventually fry....don't do it.

make sure your gain is no more than 3/4 of the way up.

if everything is installed properly and the amp settings are correct, i would suggest stepping up to a larger amp...1000w...your sub handles 1200w so you will be safe.

as for it getting hot...thats what lower grade amps do...its a sign of inefficiency and in the long run lost power and lost sound.

  2. Yeah, you need a chav-proof fuse.

  3. Amplifiers have a thing called a Thermo Switch built inside of them to protect themselves from burning up under dangerous or extreme conditions.

This thermo switch usually cuts the amp off for a few minutes while it cools down to an acceptable level.

You need a bigger amp with more Juevos or you need to ride it a bit easier than you are now.

To the guy recommending a "bigger fuse" - please go back to playing with your friends outside and stop giving crappy install advice.

  4. u may need bigger fuse

  5. You need to post some model numbers of the amps and such.

My buddys Jeep had a small setup in it and it would do the same, the amp was going to protect mode.

If you amp has lights on it for protect mode, see if it lights up after a while, its probably getting too hot. Its probably not the subs.

  6. what is happening is that the amp is getting over heated and suts out to cool back down...you can install a fan (like the computer ones) to keep putting fresh air into the amp and keep it cool so it dosen't over heat as fast or at all...good luck

  7. use a 150 amp breaker theas way you dont need replace a fuse everytime

  8. do you have the correct wiring gauge running to amps

  9. Is it hot where you are if so it could be the heat.
