Sub/amp questions.?

If I want clear, heavy bass, something thats not muddy sounding, which box should I use? I have a single vented right now, and even though I covered the whole so no air could escape, it still sounded muddy. Is a non-vented box best for clean bass?

Then, I have a single 12'' Alpine Type E sub. If I got another one, added a dual sub box, whats a good amp to push both well, but doesn't cost $500?

Also, how easy/safe is it to build my own sub box? I want one that fits in my honda, but all the ones I can find are 1-4in too long. Is it easy to build one, one that will be as good as the store, and one that won't rattle, without costing mass amount? I found a 3/4in MDF sheet for $34 at a local store. But, I can buy one for $60 already done. Is it worth it to build it myself?

  1. Building a box yourself is a much better idea, also the muddy sound could be your sub not your box. The type e's aren't the greatest sounding. Back to the box however, you need to get the specs for the box off of the website. It's quite easy to build your own box however the first one might not turn out so good but after you build a couple you will become an expert.

    Here

If you go with a Sealed Box Volume 1.00 - 2.00 cubic feet

If you go with a Ported Box Volume 1.25 - 2.50 cubic feet

    Top Mount Depth 5.6"

    Cutout Diameter 10.6"
