  1. the amp powers the subs YES you need amp and a wiring kit that comes with:

    power wire

    ground wire

    remote wire

    rca jacks

so depending on your cd player you may need more then just this to run your subwoofers

  2. YOU HAVE ALOT TO LEARN ABOUT CAR AUDIO MY FIREND....amplifiera are used to "AMPLIFY" the audio signal and multiply its input ...ok ill be simple .subs produce sound when power is put through it. cd players or "decks" are nowhere enough powerful enough to make the sub go off, so an amplifier is used, it takes the signal from your audio source "deck"  and makes it stronger which is same as bieng louder...so in conclusion, an amp is not needed, but if you dont have one then you dont have subs..just speakers with high resistance..i recommend you get both subs and an amp

  3. Yeah you need an amplifier. If you don't have one first of all you won't get any sound from the sub because there wouldn't be enough power to move the sub and second you will most likely blow something in your deck (radio) because of a possible incorrect ohm load.

If you want a simple let and your not sure exactly how to match your subs and amp then you can either post them and the answers community can help you out or you can look into package deals.

^they have good package deals that have everything you need (amp sub and box) for great prices.

    Hope this helps.

  4. You need the amplifier to power you subs. Without a good amplifier you cannot get good bass from you subs.
