I got x=35/13. BUT when I check this equation by subbing the answer into the equation, I can't get both sides to equal! Can anyone post a check that has both sides equal? If not, WHAT does x equal to?!

  1. (4x+1)/3=3+ (x+1)/4

    (4x+1)*4= 36+3(x+1)

    16x-3x=36+3-4

    13x=35

    x=35/13

    not  subbing; this is the solution to the equation.

  2. I think your answer is correct.

    (4(35/13) + 1)/3 =? 3 + (35/13 + 1)/4

    (140/13 + 13/13)/3 =? 3 + (35/13 + 13/13)/4

    (153/13)/3 =? 3 + (48/13)/4

    51/13 =? 3 + 12/13

    51/13 =? (39 + 12)/13

    Yes! your answer is correct.  Just the arithmetic is a little tricky.

  3. You found the value of x to be right but on subbing its coming like -18=48/13
