I want to put a sub and amp in my boot and two 6x9's into the parcel shelf into my car (VAUXALL CORSA C).

But i havent a clue how to do it, or what power what needs to be (i want it to sound clear and not too bassy).

Apparently i need to cap off the door speakers, can some one help me fit it from the car battery onwards (to the boot)...Many Thanks!! :D

  1. It might be fun to do, but without experience I'd recommend visiting a professional.

  2. You need to fit (in the positive feed to the front-door speakers) a small capacitor which stops DEEP bass-signals reaching the speakers, which would destroy them in short time.  You can ask your local audio dealer for the correct rating of the caps, for the speakers you are using.  Maplin and other electronic stores sell them, expect to pay only a couple of pounds for 'life-insurance' and a much clearer sound from your front speakers!  If you can't find the exact value needed, (say you need 150 mH) but you can only buy 75's, you can use two 75's side by side (tape them together and use "chocolate-block" wire-joiners to insert them into your speaker leads.  Similarly, if you need 150 but can only buy 50's tape three 50's together (it will look like a tiny bundle of dynamite you see in cartoons!)  The front door speakers will live longer, and sound clearer, and be able to take much more signal input without distortion, after you have capped them off.

For a stunning sound-stage that sounds like the artist is RIGHT IN FRONT of you, you can add a centre speaker...  If you can fit one into your dash.  Many old cars have a factory one in place, often it is a 6x4 inch oval speaker.  It will probably be c**p!  You can buy a better one, fit it, and wire the positive side from the positive terminal off your drivers' door speaker, and the negative from the negative terminal of the passenger side speaker... Got that?

Actually, there is a lot of detail to go into, do you want to email me your addy?
