  1. Don't know about Subaru sorry but I do know this. You will probably bump or scrape your first car, most people do, so get something you won't mind it happening to. Then go for a car you like next time round.

    ;-)

  2. The Impreza is a fantastic car. I live in upstate NY, so it is the perfect car for the climate. Amazing in the snow, amazingly reliable, great to drive. You can't go wrong.

  3. that's terrible mileage for the price.  you might want to look at getting one brought up from the states.  you should be able to get half that 'mileage' for that price.

the gas mileage is decent, exceptional for a AWD car.  they are a good first car as they are not too fast, handle okay and go well in inclement weather.

  4. I'm not sure where you're located in Canada but pricing can vary a lot, if you don't mind traveling a bit, cars are always cheaper out west, and in better condition. Pricing for the older style GC8s is also dependant on the model you want, base are fairly cheap where as 2.5RS's still cost around 7-10 on average. You might want to also check out some Legacy's.

As for KMs, Subaru's are know for reliability, but just like any car if it wasn't maintained can quickly become a money pit (whether at 20K or 200K). Gas mileage on the older base models is also rated around 23mpg(9.7KM/L) out of the 1.8L and 8.1km/l on the 2.2L both run on regular.

As for the sporty. They handle great and are a blast in winter (you'll be either laughing at people or helping them push), the 1.8L(base) is rated for about 110hp, and the 2.2L(LX and up) about 130hp, not bad all things considered. If you're willing to spring for a little extra though the 2.5RS has around 140hp.

Either way it will do what you're looking to get out of it very well, good on gas, reliable and practical. The AWD makes a huge difference in the winter. Just be patient and do your research and I'm sure you'll find one in decent condition in your price range. Good luck.

  5. Impreza is an excellent first car awd gas mileage very good however i would continue looking for one with less mileage
