Subhan Ahmad reveals that Zaka Ashraf is trying to bring international cricket in Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Subhan Ahmad, the Chief Operating Officer of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed that the chairman of the board, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, is trying to bring international cricket back into the country.
"The chairman informed the governing board members that he had formally invited Bangladesh to tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the mid of 2012 for a Test series that is part of the Future Tour Programme," said Subhan.
He further said that the return of international cricket in Pakistan is expected in 2012 and the board is preparing for the scenario. Talking about the establishment of a new wing within the board, Subhan said that it would be
responsible to coordinate with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and other national and international security experts to bring around foreign teams to visit Pakistan.
"We are in the process of trying to convince teams like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and even India to support us by playing matches in Pakistan,” added Subhan.
International cricket in Pakistan suffered since the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore, in 2009, which saw some of the players, along with assistant coach seriously injured.
In the wake of this incident, Pakistan was also deprived of the hosting rights for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, which caused a considerable
financial loss to PCB.
Subhan further said that the security officials and vigilance division will accompany the national team on foreign tours to ensure that all the players follow the anti-corruption rules and regulations.
Subhan, while talking about Zaka Ashraf’s recent meeting with ICC and other boards in Dubai, said that the tournament between Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was under discussion and PCB’s chairman was also invited to visit
Bangladesh by their cricket board in December 2011.
In addition, the PCB is also putting in its efforts to revive the bilateral ties between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Pakistan. Ashraf is also expected to visit India in the second week of December to hold talks on the revival of friendly cricketing
relations with his counter-part in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
