  1. Please read the following regarding this:

"MUMBAI: Five months after its launch in Mumbai, Subhiksha has got over the problem of stock shortages and has also increased its sales per customer. Two factors have contributed. One, its supply chain has improved. Two, it has changed the approach it used in South India to suit the Mumbai customer.

Two months ago, the retailer was having huge problems with stock shortages as the stock available on shelves was only 50% of desired levels for some categories. This was because Subhiksha had set up stores too fast. According to R Subramanian, managing director, Subhiksha Trading Services, “Though our stock inventory is still not optimal, we have improved it substantially from 65% in January to a stock inventory of 82% currently.”

The average bill values are now within touching distance of Rs 400 per customer, according to Mr Subramanian, and the 90 stores combined consistently get over 2 lakh visitors on each weekend. Sources in the retail industry say that Subhiksha’s bill values were stuck at under Rs 200 after its first two months in Mumbai as customers couldn’t find what they wanted.

The learnings from Mumbai have been an eye opener. For instance, the retailer discovered that shoppers in Mumbai weren’t that likely to purchase top-up items in their grocery lists as they did in South India, where it first began operations. Other categories like cream biscuits have shown faster growth in South India but nowhere near as much in Mumbai. "

  2. After Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore it is now turn of Mumbai, asking detail about " Subhiksha " outlets.  There is one in Matunga, near Kings Circle.
