The story:

Me and a room mate is going to pay rent for this sublet. The agreement should be between me and the sublessor right?

The original landlord is supose to have an agreement with "her Tenant" and not me and my room mate; the subtenant right? So she is complaining to Me and my room mate; the subtenant. that we didn't pay "her" rent on time. The thing is: i paid my sublessor, the rent Money before it was due, which is before the 1st of the month.. NOW, the original landlord is complaining to me that the rent she received is late. and she is B*tching at me about it?? is that right?

the lease with her and her tenant is over by next month. SO, she is mad that her rent is received late, and now she does not want to sign the new lease over to me thinking I am late on my payment when i wasn't because i gave the sublessor the rent on the 1st. it is the sublessor(her tenant)'s fault that she received the rent late.

Is it illegal for her to not garantee the new lease to me in next month??

  1. She is within her rights. You fouled up by not making sure that your sublessor paid the rent. Your agreement with the sublessor should have said that you would pay the landlord directly to insure that this was done. You are lucky you are not being evicted right away.  If your sublessor fails to comply with his obligtations then the landlord is within her rights to evict anyone who is claiming rights through her original tenent.

  2. No, it's not illegal.  She doesn't need a reason not to rent to you.
