Question:

Submitting to agencies? Headshot/cover letter?

I have been looking for representation, at different talent agencies, most have said that a professional photo/headshot is not needed. So I was wondering if the agents would look at the submission differently if it was a professional headshot vs. a picture headshot from a digital camera?

Also, if you are under the age of 18, should you parents submit you to the talent agency or can I just do it myself? What is the difference? Should my parents write my cover letter? Or should I write my own cover letter? Which is the preference?

Thank You so much! All answers are greatly appreciated!

  1. A professional pic is a plus, but isn't necessary for most agencies. If they choose to represent you, they'll often ask for your pictures to be done a certain way and you'll have to get new ones. If you choose to get them done professionally, don't spend a lot of money on it.

If you're under 18, your parents should know about what you're doing and their contact should be on your resume, but you should write your own cover letter. Parents will often have to be on set with you when you work and they'll have to take you in for your interview should the agency request one with you.

    Good luck!

  2. It depends on the agency but you better have a real good photo,to give you an edge.It is exteremly competitive. And a  pro digital camera will do the job.Good luck!

  3. You need a professional picture taken, if you seriously want to do this. If you send in one that's not professional, it will be a joke. Tell your parents FOR SURE. Your parents need to know what your submitting and where  your are submitting to.
