Subramaniam Badrinath aiming for number-six position in Indian Test team – Cricket News Update
Many talented Indian batsmen, such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Subramaniam-Badrinath-c91587 feels that he is the best man to fill the spot.
Badrinath is out of action since his last international appearance during the tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, soon after the World Cup 2011. His outstanding performance in the fourth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) earned him a place in the national setup;
however, he failed to spark with the bat.
In his four games on the Caribbean soil, the 31-year-old batsman collected just 40 runs and as a result, he lost his place in the side.
Badrinath is yet to cement his place in the ODI setup, but he is aiming high and eyeing the number-six spot in the Indian Test squad, saying that he has keenly been waiting for the big opportunity.
"I have been waiting in the sidelines. Honestly, there is just one spot left (in the middle-order). To be honest, I do not want to be that one guy who is only in the squad and not playing. I want to play in the eleven and that is my biggest motivation,"
Badrinath said.
"In the back of my mind I know I haven`t really lost. Maybe the spots would open up soon and I feel I am the best guy to do the job," insisted the Chennai-born batsman, who has represented Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in seven ODIs and a couple of Test matches.
Badrinath is also not worried about his growing age, stating that Australia’s ace batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, who started off his International cricket at the age of 30, is his role model.
Moreover, the right-hander believes that since he has decent experience of playing a lot of competitive cricket, he has better chances to chip into the Test arena.
"The best part is I have got quite a bit of experience, so once I can make it to the team I would make it count," added the veteran batsman who holds a massive experience of 97 first-class games under his belt.
