http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Subramaniam-Badrinath-c91587 says he has learnt the art of Twenty20 cricket
After guiding his side to an emphatic victory in the one-off Twenty20 international (T20I) against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, the dazzling Indian batsman, Subramaniam Badrinath, has said that he has settled himself well in the shorter format of cricket.
Badrinath smashed a marvellous knock of 43 runs and led his side to a comfortable 16-run triumph against Windies in a thrilling Twenty20 contest at Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
The West Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Julius-Garvey-Sammy-c52468, won the toss and asked the tourists to bat first.
Although, the opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539, lost their wickets without any notable contribution.
Badrinath took the responsibility in the middle-order and steered his side to a decent total of 159.
The classy right-hander made the full use of the sluggish conditions and used his feet outstandingly against the spinners. Commenting on his fabulous batting effort, Badrinath revealed that he has learnt the art of pacing his innings in Twenty20 cricket.
He believes that trying different approaches, such as scoop shots, was the key to his success against the Caribbean side.
"I usually take time to settle myself in but I have worked out a theory with which I approach the urgency of Twenty20 cricket. My initial attempt is to rotate the strike and I then employ this scoop shot to shift gears," said Badrinath.
The 30-year-old batsman, who was playing his debut T20I, stormed into the national side by demonstrating an excellent batting show in the just-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).
He represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the fourth season of the league and scored 396 runs at a strike rate 126.51.
Luck also helped Badrinath in his debut match as he was caught on a no-ball when he was batting at 25. He added, "I had started to walk towards the pavilion when umpire asked me to stay put as the delivery had been referred to the third umpire for a suspected
no-ball. As luck would have it, it indeed was a no-ball and I was relieved I could resume my innings."
Meanwhile, Badrinath explained that he has working hard on improving his game and wants to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 over a long time.
