After three years of effort and struggle, Chennai star, Subramaniam Badrinath, finally received the green signal from the selection committee of BCCI.
Badrinath last featured in a One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in August 2008, after that he did not get any opportunity to prove his capabilities in the limited overs format.
However, the 30-year-old was provided with an opportunity last February when he played two Test encounters against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
As far as his limited over selection is concerned, Badrinath kept on facing disappointment from the selection committee for three long years.
Friday proved a lucky day for the Chennai star as he claimed his spot in team India’s limited overs squad for their upcoming tour of the Caribbean.
Badrinath mentioned that despite turning 30, he never lost hope about making his way back into the Indian national team. He kept on accumulating runs in the cash-rich Indian premier league and other formats as well.
Badrinath said "There wasn't one day I thought I will never get back. I just had that fire in me"
The right-hander currently represents Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and has scored 349 runs in 12 appearances for the franchise.
Badrinath openly recognized the role of Indian premier league in his selection and said, “I have been always striving to be a better player and concentrated on the process. IPL was a huge help; you learn from big cricketers who constantly strive to keep
improving. Once you do that, you are going to get just better."
It seems that happy days are back in Badrinath life and it’s the right time for him to shine as a dependable batsman for team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Badrinath finished his previous domestic season on a happy note. He emerged as the highest run getter in Ranji trophy.
The 30-year-old continued this form in IPL and that led to his comeback in the national side once again.
After the ICC World Cup 2011 glory, team India has been raised to the highest pedestal. Their bowling attack lacks depth but they undoubtedly possess the most formidable batting line-up enjoying the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623
and the skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820.
In a side like India where there is intense competition and variety among the batsmen, it would be a tough job for Badrinath to retain his spot in the side.
When asked about his age Badrinath replied in an optimistic manner and said "Why do they say one is old - it's just about fitness," he said. "I have really worked very hard to be fit. I always pride myself on my fitness."
