  1. What amplifier?  What budget?  Sound Goals?

Edit:  Ok now that you gave a little more info, I can suggest a great sale on a very good shallow depth sub woofer>> http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum...

But, please don't buy a stereo to have your music intrude into other peoples cars or personal space.  If you want loud, there are SPL competitions all year round all over the country.

  2. Here's the thing.  When you build a budget system, it's not going to be something that everyone can hear.  If you try to push it to be something everyone can hear, you are just going to push your system into distortion, and people will know it's you, and they'll be laughing there @$$es off because your system is going to sound horrible.

Instead of worrying about what other people think when you build your system, build it to be something that you will enjoy to listen to when you are in the car alone, listening to your favorite song.  A system that the person in the next car can hear, just isn't going to fit under the seat of your truck.

That being said, Kenwood is a very good budget brand.  They make very solid amps, that will usually last you a couple of years of abuse.  Their subs are pretty solid as well, and if you have the room, their KAC-3011's are a pretty good buy at only $100 a pop.  If you don't have the room for a full 12 under the seat, take a look at their shallow mount line.  They run $200 a peice, so they are little more, but they are the best shallow mount subs I've heard.   They actually have a decent Xmax, and don't seem to distort untill well into the 40Hz range, which is more than you can say for most of the shallow mounts out there.
