Question:

Subs woofer sounds like a snare drum and ideas why?

ok so when i turn on my subs they sound like a snare drums when they hit, they are a 15' kicker L7 DVC 2ohm

and im running them with a alpine MRP-850 amp that puts out 850 watts at 2ohmsx1 so is that the prob or what? any1 have an idea?

  1. well you said subs so that means you have more than one and if you have more than one then you are sending the speakers way less than they want. you may have them wired wrong or you might have the crossover set wrong.


  2. buy all jbl products and have a professional at an audio shop help you put your system together. you will not regret the money spent. buy the waranty when it sounds strange they will be more than willing to help you out. especially if you add a sticker to your car with their logo.

  3. how do you have your subs and your amp wired?  Do you have them ran parallel or in a series?  Are you bridging down your amp, or wiring them positive to positive negative to negative?  Variations in all of these will effect your ohm load and can easily blow a sub the second you turn it on.  I'd really take it to a installer and let them look at it. (and pray you didn't seperate the cones)
