Question:

Subsonic-decompression? What is it if it really exists?

Hey all, just thought up a new word. I think of words everyday and find solutions everyday. Today however, I could find no quick solution... What on earth is Subsonic-decompression? If it is in fact a true word, is it like when a gun fires a bullet... I would like to hear your thoughts and guesses.

Please keep them rolling in.

Cheers, Brian

  1. It is when an ultra-intense, sub-sonic sound wave reduces the local atmospheric pressure to the point your blood cavitates from the dissolved gases at the high-points of your body (much like getting the bends in scuba-diving).  The bubbles then cause embolisms, leading to excruciating pain and death.  In the limit of an infrasonic wave of extreme magnitude, it might be possible to make people explode because the local air pressure could be made to be lower than the boiling point of water (sort of like cracking the helmet on your space suit).

You might argue that the increased pressure from the positive part of the sub-sonic sound wave would drive the cavitation bubbles back into solution, but you would argue that only because you don't know about rectified diffusion.  Rectified diffusion (which is a known phenomenon in ultrasonic cavitation) is when the bubbles do not dissolve back into solution entirely on compression, so they continue to grow.

  2. Subsonic -decompression is not a new word.

It is two OLD words with a hyphen between them.

A good example of Subsonic-decompression is when you let a silent f**t.

Perhaps your life would be more fullfilling if you got up and did some physical exercise instead of wasting your time on a computer and getting FAT, OBESE and Silly.   Take up a good sport and get on an Olympic team.  God Bless your little pointy head.

  3. it just sounds like a tension under the speed of sound. it's like a mother trying to keep her son, which happens to be thunder, closed up in his room, which happens to be a vacuum tight box, because he behaved poorly at the dinner table. But the thunder simply won't have it. it'll throw a temper tantrum, it'll break the windows, as it dreams of following the steps of his father, lightning.
