I love the job of the Swiffer, but not happy with the short battery life. Any one have any other suggestions?

  1. i used a good mop and vinagar water, warm. my floors shinned

  2. a regular broom and a mop....thats what people used before swiffer was invinted.

  3. What Gar Fana said. On my hard floors, I vacuum then damp mop, and it works well.

    Good luck!

  4. Personally I just use my regular carpet vacuum cleaner on my hardwood floors. Then you don't have to worry about battery life.

  6. if you must use chemicals, then try the non-toxic Method brand O Mop...I hope you have Method items somewhere near you..you can find them at Target, online at   http://www.methodhome.com, some grocery stores now carry Method products-cheaper if you can get at a store nearby. FYI: if you have small kids on the floor a lot or pets walking around you shouldn't use the swiffer jet thing because in time it's toxic to them both. I sometimes just use seventh generation lavender dish soap to mop my floors with water and my libman brand wonder mop from Walmart, after I sweep or vacuum.

  7. I use a terry cloth broom/mop.  I have extra covers so that I can sweep with it and then there is a hard surface cleaner at home depot that I spray on the floor and then use a clean cover to shine.

  8. old hoisery or socks attached to a broom, or flat dry swiffer works great for dust collecting and shining.

  9. Um, you could always do like I seen in the Philippines and I imagine they've done for centuries on many other islands for some of the old wood floors. They strap a half coconut shell on the bottom of their foot and swing their leg back and forth along the grain of the wood to buff it to a shine and switch to the other leg when they tire.

Holy makarena, can you imagine the muscle and how powerful such legs be after doing this regularly after awhile? Well, batteries are very expensive there too.  Oh I know, how bout you throw a pot-luck-sock-hop party  and make all your friends bring a different dish and after dinner everyone has to wear thick, padded, terry cloth socks (or just the Swiffer pads on the bottom of their shoes) and dance across the floor and save the batteries instead for your camera to take pictures and at the end of the evening there could be a raffle to see who hosts the next dance fleur show. So don't forget at least one red rose for you to have between your teeth when you make your grand entrance from the kitchen holding your favorite dish and say as carefully as you can (because it is very hard to shout with a rose in the  mouth without scratching  or poking oneself in the eyeball)...

OK PEOPLES! it's Swiffer Party Time!
