Question:

Substitute for a male promise ring?

My boyfriend and I have been together more than 3 years now and it's really serious. He gave me a promise ring 1 1/2 years ago which I wear faithfully. I'm graduating from college in May and moving away to grad school, so we'll be doing the long distance thing for a while, so I want to give him something that says that I am committed to him no matter where on earth I am. He's not a jewelry type of guy, and I know he won't wear a ring because I've kind of hinted around to it. He wears a watch every day, and he wears a chain with a cross on it but no other jewelry than that.

I am looking for ideas of things I can get him that show commitment that he can potentially have on him all the time (so not like cuff links or anything) and I'm stumped! Any ideas?

  1. my girlfriend gave me a cool broach. i try to wear it all the time. It's a black heart haha.

  2. www.zales.com

then at the top click 'personalize' then click 'mens'

I promise you you WILL find something there, that all can be engraved and its all REASONABLE!!!

I'm getting my boyfriend a ring and a money clip from there :)

I hope you can find something!!!

  3. I don't know your budget, but Tiffanys has money clips that you can get engraved.

You could also get him another cross, and have it engraved with a little message. I've seen guys wear two crosses on one chain.

  4. I have a pocket knife my then girlfriend gave me. Still carry it to this day, and I have been married for a few years now. Simple things are best. I hate wearing anything that is bulky or just annoying. Necklace, a watch, maybe a bracklet.

  5. I think you should talk to him about a ring or sorts.  My ex and I did something similar when we were in school and she had gotten me a basic silver ring with celtic knots on it that I wore.  You could search ebay together for ideas.  Even if he isn't a jewelry guy (I am not myself) I would think he would be willing to wear this since he has obviously made the approach of wanting to be married to you.

  6. I know what you mean, I have had my diamond for awhile and finally we were out, roaming and I found a stainless steel band. Mine doesn't wear rings either, but the whole idea of stainless steel well that was a different story. He wouldn't be willing to wear something different on his chain would he or how about this, get him some kind of cross, a new cross to wear on his chain, maybe even something of your wedding date engraved on it or something. That way it will always be with him.

  7. necklace

  8. I once saw a super-hot guy at the laundromat. He was wearing a gold chain id type necklace. It looked like an id bracelet only it was a necklace. I passed by him close enough to read the id part. It only had one word on it ``MINE``.....it was too cute. Not sure if that would be appropriate, but it worked with me...didn`t go near him

  9. There are some cool ID bracelets -

Don't get one too chunky -

  10. My husband asked me to marry him our senior year of high school, but I got my diamond ring our freshman year of college for Christmas. He originally proposed with a fake ring (but I still thought it was sweet). I bought him his own ring from ebay lol. It was a titanium right with I Love You written in kanji. It was beautiful.

  11. A gift won't keep him true to this commitment - that has to come from inside.  I wouldn't worry about buying him anything.  A key ring is something he'd use every day though.

  12. A chastity belt. You put it on in front of him, let him lock it and then you give him the key. Just don't make a duplicate!

  13. Guys don't mind wearing necklaces. I wear my gf's necklace.
