The best substitute of fossil fuel is BIO DIESEL, it is made by edible or non edible oil using something simple chemical process, it is ecofriendly, UN hazardous and bio degradable, so 80% less emmision of carbon dioxide, and 100% less emmision of sulphar dioxide, so i think it is the best substitute of fossil fuel.

Two alternatives (i) Renewable energy that includes biogas, methane, hydrogen gas, solar, wind etc and (ii) nuclear energy.  

Apart from this we are searching for the sources from other planets also.

Nice question --- there can be many --- solar energy, tidal energy, hydroelectricity, wind energy and atomic energy are some I know... we gotta discover more to replace the limited fossil fuels!

apart from all the non conventional sources, u get earlier, we are also try to complete our demand through biofuel. in this context various researchs are on.the plant named"JOJOBA" is considered as biofuel for upcoming generation

There is a way to combine certain chemicals that when combined with water "H2O", will cause the water to combust just like normal gasoline...

However, I haven't figured out the correct chemical composition...  

Here's  a few chemical suspects:  (Note, they should all be dry chemicals until mixed with the water).  Also, those denoted with a question mark are just mere guesses.
