Question:

Substitute for red wine?

I am making a red wine sauce for dinner and realized I don't have any red wine and the red wine cooking sauce expired in 06 so I'm guessing that would be nasty. The recipe calls for a 1/4 cup and I cant buy wine(not 21 yet). The only other 2 things I have is red wine vinegar and a non alcoholic red grape sparkling drink. Would either one of these work. Thanks so much. Any suggestions would be helpful.
