Substitute for tarragon?

I am cooking a meal which asks for tarragon... I just realized i do not have any....Is there something i can use for a substitute?

Tarragon has its own unique flavor that I have not found a substitute for. But, you can use any other herb you like for your dish. The flavor will not be the same but it will still turn out ok. I use basil, rosemary, or thyme when i don't have tarragon, Ive also used ground star anise or just black licorice for a subtle hint. But that isn't very often since i like tarragon so much and use a lot in my cooking
