Substitutes for Heavy cream?

I'm making homemade ice cream and it calls for Heavy cream in it but I don't have any. What can I substitute it with I have whole evaporated milk would that work?

  1. I can tell you up front that not using heavy cream will produce an ice cream that is not nearly as tasty as you want it to be. I wouldn't substitute anything less than Half & Half at best...

    I would definitely not recommend evaporated milk for ice cream; if it was a hot recipe, that would be fine.
