Suburban wont start?

Couple weeks ago my husband got some gas in his 1999 suburban and it automatically started to shake. 2 days later the car stalled and now when u try to start it, i will crank but the engine will shake real bad and will try to start but wont and will just shut off. he got a mechanic to fix it, he said it was the fuel pump. hubby bought new fuel pump for 250.00 dollars and after putting it in the mech said it was not the fuel pump but when he did a computer check on the car it said it was fine. if it is not the fuel pump what is the problem? injectors? filter etc? and is there anything my husband can do at home to fix it himself?

  1. Maybe the fuel filter?  They can be hard to change without the right tools though.

  2. I think there is a fuel pressure regulator...under the intake(?) Generally you won't retrieve fault on a scanner when it's fuel related. Depending on the engine size it could be a spider injector..not cheap...the o-rings usually warp out causing it not to hold pressure any longer. Mechanic sounds like he's barking up the right tree though.

Unless your husband has the tools and knowledge to fix a driveability issue, I'd leave it to the experienced.

  3. You need a new Water Pump

  4. there is water in the gas  get three cans of sea foam and pour into the gas tank. let the truck set for a while than try to start it  the engine might run bad for a while but it will come out of it and run fine. i wouldnt go back to that gas station.

  5. have him check the timing on it ,it sounds like it might have humped timing on it,if that's the case its not going to start,Chevy's was good for timing chains and gears in them going bad, that's the only thing i can think of that might be causing what your describing, good luck.
