Subway Fresh Fit 500 dramatised by early wrecks – NASCAR news
Subway Fresh Fit 500 was dramatised by the wrecks occurred early in the day at the Phoenix international Raceway on Sunday.
Just one hour into the race, 10 cars were forced back to the garages, spilling fluids all-over the floor. The crewmembers were in a stress to either repair to get back on track or fit the cars in transporters.
Carl Edwards was viewing his car No. 99 Ford and mourning on his withered car which ended his day unexpectedly early.
“That's the car to beat, right there, sitting in the garage,” said Edwards, pointing back at his damaged ride. “That's the fastest car here. That thing's unreal. I was just cruising out there, screaming fast. It's just too good of a race and too good
of a race car to be sitting here, watching.”
Winner of Daytona 500, Trevor Bayne headed to the wall of Turn 1 on 49th lap, smashing the rear end of his No. 21 Ford. On lap 60, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards got in contact triggering a multi-car accident that sucked in Jeff Gordon, Jeff
Burton and Kevin Harvick. Edwards, who led for 21 laps, felt that he has lost a great chance of victory to die. Still after the incident Edwards was out of clue what went wrong and started the accident.
“My first impression was that Kyle was just frustrated that Ryan got by me and he turned down,” Edwards said. “But I looked at that and it looked like he might have just gotten loose. I'll talk to him about it.”
Edwards was happy with his machine and felt gliding on the track as he said his car was screaming for more speed. He could not see Kyle Busch coming towards him and he feels that Busch is a good driver to make such a side-slide. Hanging without a clue,
he could not understand that it was a mistake in judgment or a reaction of frustration.
Kyle Busch came with his sportsman spirit and shared some apology for the contact between two.
“Unfortunately there, the car got out from underneath me right around the backstretch and I made a mistake and got into Carl Edwards there and completely destroyed his day,” Busch said. “I can understand his frustration that he had and so I apologize
to him first and foremost.”
