Subway and tomatos?

Question

I went to subway today and got a sandwich and they had tomatoes and put them on my sandwich. A few minutes later my brother went up there and they said they didn't have any tomatos. I'm kinda worried now since I took about 2 bites of the sandwich and I was wondering is the sandwich safe to eat if I just pick off the tomatos???

Well since the recall of all tomatoes you should just pick them off and not eat them until the recall has been issued out.

The tomato scare is over now here in California and MCDONALD'S started serving tomatoes again on their sandwiches.

Maybe they ran out. Otherwise I'm sure the sandwhich is ok b/c they put tomatoes back on the sandwhich. If in doubt ask a manager b/c maybe they werent supposed to be serving them.

Just pick them off. I assume you live in CA where we just had the tomato scare?  If they HAVE the tomatoes, chances are they are fine, but if you want to keep on the safe side, just pick them off. Two bites won't do anything....

Yeah, don't worry. You will be fine. They would never serve you bad tomatoes. I live in CALI too and places didn't have tomatoes for awhile. But they are coming back now and seem to be fine. So yeah don't worry at all you will be fine!

I think that the tomatos are fine because in the town i live in there is a Subway there was a sign that the will not serve tomatos then 4 days later they were serving tomatos again. I think that you will be fine because if the tomatos were harmful they probably would not be allowing people to put them on there sandwich. when your brother went an ordered his sandwich they might have been out of tomatos and that might be why he could not get them on his sandwich.

Remember, certain types of tomatoes were not involved in the outbreak. A reputable chain like Subway isn't going to risk poisoning its customers with iffy tomatoes.

Where I live, tomatoes on the vine and locally grown tomatoes were there all along, and now beefsteaks, roma, plum, and heirloom tomatoes are back after a temporary absence.
