I won't dispute the answer above although hopstop has some bad directions sometimes.

Of all the questions I have seen here on this subject you are the first to give the starting point BUT you didn't say where you want to go.

There is another web site you can go to for directions:

as well as the MTA website (there are online versions of the subway map and all the borough bus maps).
