Question:

Subway...false advertising?

I'm just curious as to whether anyone has ever gotten a sandwich from Subway that even remotely resembles those shown in their TV commercials and print ads.

They are always shown as these huge sandwiches full of meat and other toppings.

I have never, ever seen a sandwich like that come out of any of the Subway shops I have ever been to. There is always more bread than toppings and the shops seem to go out of their way not to put much meat (or anything else) on the sandwiches.

They in no way even remotely resemble what you see in their advertising.

  1. If your ever in california there subways always look like the commercial. Well atleast in northern California

  2. yeah i agree

i have never gotten a sandwich that ever looked like the pictures

    but really

    any place you go

does it ever look like the picture?

    cause mine never do

  3. mine always did.. but thats cos i knew people who worked there and got extra stuff.

usually got em for £1.50 or free too :)

  4. they all cheat man, that's the power of commercial.

Mac cheese burger looks like a hockey pug.

  5. you can always order it with double meat...it will cost ya though.

  6. yeah mine look like the commercials. ask for extra meat and extra toppings, theyll give it to you for no extra charge. my friend does that, but yeah mine are usually full of meat and lettuce (i get lettuce and mayo for toppings thats it. yeah im weird lol) you can ask for extra anything, just do that if its not good for you. lol

  7. yeah usually there flat, i like quiznos better. they give you more meat. and toppings, but subway just sucks in general.

  8. Part of advertising is to make the product look better than what you are eating / buying now.  It happens all the time.  If you want to see something worse, check out a McDonald's burger versus the commercials and ads.  I kind of like the Quiznos sandwiches, they do at least look better.  One exception on the ads is that the few times I've seen an In N Out commercial, they seem to be the closest to the actual product.

  9. dunno,

  10. You will never get a sandwich that resembles the photo, or a burger, or anything. For the photo shoot of the sandwich they use stick pins to keep the toping & bread in place. Then they sray it with a light wax coting to make it shine. I say that on the History Channel a little while back.

  11. all companies do!!

  12. They dont use false adverting, just deceptive, they photograph the food in a way to make it look like theres more meat, but its all about how you arrange the meat.

Look at pictures of taco bell tacos. they make it look like they have tons of meat.

I learned about this in school, im in school for advertising.

  13. Mine always are huge.  I think they are one of the better sandwich shops.  You just have to ask for what you want.

Potbelly, Jimmy John's and Quizno's have much smaller sandwiches.

    In my humble opinion.... :)
