I've been in a diet lately and have been eating tuna subs like once a week thinking it was healthy. But now i check the nutrition facts on Subway's site and it says that it has 32 grams of fat? How can this be? tuna is healthy for you ... i dont get it..

Shouldnt it be healthy for you?

  1. It would be the mayo.  I work for Subway, all that is in the tuna is tuna and light mayo, that is it.  But look on the bright side, it is still less fat that is in the average double cheeseburber, and it tastes a lot fresher, and you can get almost your entire daily fix on veggies if you do it right!

  2. its the mayo and the bread

  3. it's definitely the mayonnaise.

there's a book called "eat this, not that" and it goes restaurant by restaurant advising what you should and shouldn't get at each one. for Subway, it does say the 6 inch tuna sub has 530 calories and 31g of fat. specifically mentions "gloppy mayo-based tuna salad sends this sandwich's fat counts skyrocketing".

fyi- it does recommend the oven roasted chicken breast salad w/ fat free italian dressing for 175 calories and 2.5 g of fat.

the book is really great, because it also goes into what drinks you should avoid, what condiments, what frozen meals, etc...

  4. It's healthy for you, but fattening because of all that MAYONAISSE. You should order the veggie sub. That's WAY healthier and less fattening.

  5. its for sure the mayo. A healthy sub would be the veggie delite

  6. The tuna at Subway used to be made with the light mayonnaise.  When the Atkins craze was huge they switched it to regular mayonnaise to it would be a low-carb option for customers when they were getting a low-carb wrap.  It has never been switched back.  You need to stick to the lower fat subs like turkey, ham, club, chicken breast, chicken teriyaki or veggie delite.

  7. It is the mayo.

  8. I know everyone is saying it's the mayo but Subway uses light mayo in their tuna salad.

  9. Tuna IS healthy for you...it is the mayonnaise they mix in it that isn't.  Keep in mind too...there IS fat in tuna and that is most likely part of the 32 grams of fat.

  10. Just believe that number is a lot less saturated fat then a lot of other places.

  11. Mayo...is death

  12. maby the mayonas

  13. maybe its the mayo they use or something.

  14. its the bread and the big lump of mayonaise!!

  15. The amount of mayonnaise used is pretty astonishing. They are so good though !!!!  I feel your pain.  Make your own at home, so you can control your own fat and caloric intake. Subway does have plenty of lower fat and caloric subs, if you truly love eating there.
