I was looking for a sub for a 15x15 room. Im sure 10" is the suitable size for this room but the 12" version of the same sub is only 40$ more. would I get deeper bass from the 12" or would that be to big for the room ? thanks

  1. A 12" does tend to produce a better range of sound, but requires more power to drive it. Also the mid to high end volume output will be more because it will move more air.

If these are self powered then check the wattage of the amps and make sure the 12" has at least 150 watts and a crossover to cancel all but low frequency.

  2. Check out SVS subs online. They are awsome for the price. Thet will answer any questions you have. 10 would be fine for ya.  A 12 would work also. I have a 10 in my 15 x 20 room and it shakes the house. I am able to set it up also. Get your controles with it. Good luck.

  3. What sub would really depend on the other speakers you already have.

You would want even frequency response from 20kHz to 20Hz. So more detail on exactly what you have is needed to make a informed recommendation.

  4. Look for a sub that comes with controls on them to adjust the volume and range.  I have a Cerwin Vega sub and with these controls I was able to tweak it when I first got it and then again when I went from carpet to hard wood.  This means you can buy the 12" for the better quality sound/range but cater it to your room.
