If so what kind? Like whats the difference between mono, double and multi channels and which one would I need? I also would like to know If I got a radio could I get an in dash monitor with a detachable face or is it impossible? What are preferred brands of these types of things! AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE CAR AUDIO BUFFS PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!

  1. Wow you got like 5-10 questions there so here i go;

    1.)

    10" x 1 = a good sound to compliment a stock system

10" x 2 = a strong sound, very tight and accurate Bass great all around setup

    12" x 1 = Deeper and more power than a single 10"

12" x 2 = Feeling of lots of Power.  Very good for Hip-Hop, low and deep bass.

    2.)

A Subwoofer with no Amp is like a Car with No Gas, looks good and that it.

    3.)

Which amp to buy is determined by the application.

MonoBlock Amps are 1 channel Bass Only Amps that use DIgital technology to give you a lot of sound in a small size.  They are known as mono or Class D amps.  They generally run a hotter then 2 channel amps but this is normal

2 Channel amps can play Full Range or Bass.  They are known as Class A/B amps.  They are generally bigger than an equivalent powered class D amp but give you the ability to play in several versatile modes (left/right stereo 2 channel  or  1 channel bridged power for 1 or 2 subs).  2 chnnel amps are not as smart as class D amps.  They use an older brute force technology but run cooler.  (they also take up more space than the class D's)

4 channel amps generally are Full Range Highs Amps.  They can cost more than the matching bass amp and put out much lower power (average brand name amp is 50x4 rms power)They provide your inside speakers the power to keep pace with the added bass from your bass amp. (without a highs amp,  your bass amp and 2 subs would make your radio powered speakers sound really weak.)

    4.)

On the chevi impalla's you may have a kind of ledge that sits over the radio.  Most indash radio's have a monitor that swings upwards.  If your car has a ledge, the in dash monitor may hit the ledge before it can lay flat (if this happens you will not be able to see the screen.)

Kenwood makes several in dash radio's that will be able to clear the ledge so if possible purchase a Kenwood kvt-512, kvt-619, kvt-719, kvt-819.  All of these models have a depth control as well as angle control.  All are also Detachable Face.

    5.)

Stick to the Name Brands (Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine, or even lowly Sony/JVC) and go to a professional.  it sounds like you are looking to spend $700 to $2000.  Your local stereo shop will be more than happy to work with you on a plan for the sounds and the in dash.

The best way to find a GOOD shop is to interview at least 3 or 4 shops.  Talk to the sales/installer and get a feel for the guy and his shop.  If he wants you to Buy Buy Buy Now Now Now, thats not a confident guy.  Find the guy that seems the most trustworthy and gives you his honest opinion. you will know the right guy when you talk him.  He will sound like me Ha Ha lol.

  3. yes 2 12" subs would be perfect for an impala, yes subs absolutly need amps,if not, youll blow the voice coils in em,i found that out the hard way, lol.but yes,2 12"s would be perfect, for an impala.

  4. Woofers produce sound basically by moving air as a woofer moves it has different sound waves on the front of the cone than on the back. You must prevent these waves from coming in contact. that's what an enclosure does. all speakers and woofers need enclosures or they cant function correctly. Also the longer it takes for the sound waves to come in contact the better the sound. Not sure about the in dash monitor.Mono amps are for pounding sub woofers only. Multi channel amps are for driving woofers and full range speakers from one amplifier.I am not a big fan of these unless you buy high-end! Yes you will need an amplifier!Need more info im me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
