I recenty got 2 12" Powerbass subs installed into my car running on a 1000 watt amp and recently I turned the volume down on my stereo and when i turned it back up the subs stopped thumping but a few minutes later they came back on and sounded exactly the same as before... Does this sound right? And I would also like to know what time of setting i should use with this type of set up. Thanks!

  1. Check all your connections to make sure everything is fine and if you can't find any problems it could be something as simple as a thermal cut out in the amp which means you can do nothing other than be careful.

If this is the case it means the amp has gotten to hot & cut off to protect itself. If it keeps doing this eventually you will blow it. If you have the gain dialled right up I would suggest dialling it back a little to cover yourself. I never, as a rule, have the gain past 3/4.

    Good luck

  2. you got bad contact somewhere.....check your ground, and all your speaker wire connections, also your amp may have cut out, if the right load is not wired too it,  like if you have 2 4ohm dvc subs, you could be running a 1ohm load on your amp......thats running hot.
