you should be able to test your sub directly from your reciever.your amp sends out pink noises to each of your speakers when setting your speaker levels.this should tell you if your sub is working or not.if its the performance of the sub you want to test just turn all you other speaker levels down at your reciever and end up with only your sub giving

sound,then just play any music you like.

There is a "Stryker" Bass test CD that was popular a few years ago.

Some people use it to send 16,24,32... hz sounds and measure the volume at the main seat with a Radio Shack SPL meter. Then move the sub a bit to see if it smooths out the room response.
