Question:

Subwoofer and Amp Configuration?

Here's my Subwoofer / Amp setup.

2 - 10" dual voice coil subwoofers (both 4 ohm) Kicker Solo Baric

Amp: Kicker ZX 1000.1 - I need to get the most power out of this set up but I think I can only get 500 watts at 4 ohms. The Amp can do 1000 watts at 2 ohms. But is there a way to wire the speakers (the 2 - 4 ohm dvc) so that the speakers run at 2 ohms? Is this impossible?

  1. If your subs are brand new and you have not installed them yet,see if you can take them back and swap them for a set of DVC 2ohm.

Then you can get your 2ohm load.

  2. It's not possible with your current subwoofers.  A pair of 4-ohm DVC subs can be wired for a 1-ohm load or a 4-ohm load, but not 2 ohms.
