Subwoofer boxes?

Sealed or port? What's the difference? I have heared sealed gives tight, accurate bass while ported boxes are louder but with possible "port noise". I'm looking for good bass with good "boom" but i don't want it to sound sloppy so to speak. 2 subs, 12", 800watts RMS 1800watt peak.

  1. if you wand boom go with the ported box slotted  or band pass. if you want to go  bang go with the sealed box. ported boxes dont sound sloopy unless its made bad or your subs dont match up with the cubic feet of the box. for example look up the specs of the subs they will tell you the cubic foot that is recomeded for the subs so if yor subs take 2 cubic feet and the ported or sealed box is 3 it will sound bad it all about the size of the box and the type of subs you have. go with a ported slotted or band pass and you will boom but get the right cubic foot box for your subs

  2. this will tell you everything about the different boxes

Sealed boxes: For deep, precise bass

A sealed box is an airtight enclosure housing your subwoofer. A sealed box is best for any music that demands tight, accurate bass. Expect flat response (not excessively boomy), deep bass extension, and excellent power handling. Since a sealed enclosure tends to require more power than a ported box, use an amplifier with ample wattage for optimum performance.

    Ported boxes: For forceful bass

Ported boxes use a vent (called a port) to reinforce low bass response. You get more output than you would from a sealed box at any given amplifier wattage. Some people prefer the sound of ported boxes for rock, heavy metal, rap, or any hard-driving music. Ported boxes can deliver deeper bass than sealed boxes, though they need to be much larger than sealed enclosures to accomplish that.

    Bandpass boxes: Maximum slam!

Bandpass boxes are a special type of ported box designed for maximum slam. The woofer is mounted inside a dual-chambered box (one chamber sealed, the other ported), with the sound waves emerging from the ported side. The sound that comes out of the port is extra loud within a narrow frequency range.

Because bandpass boxes are super efficient within that range, they tend to boom. Their aggressive sound is great for rap, reggae, and hard rock. Not all subwoofers work well in bandpass boxes, though and if not tuned correctly they tend to sound sloppy.

  3. sealed is for tight bass- jazz music and rock

ported is for loud boomy bass- rap hip hop

as far as port noise, its gonna be too loud to notice anyways

and peak watt means nothing, only go by rms

since u bought 2 12's, im assuming all u want is loud with good response, go ported

  5. 800 watts each or together? if its each sub then It should be pretty loud as it is without a port.

Then again, the definition of loud varies from person to person.
