Subwoofer coax?

i have a powerd sub that needs an rca input but its on the other side of the room from the reciever so is it possible to run a coax to a lowvoltage outlet back to rca? ive seen the adapters online. if it is possible does it matter wich coax i use?

  1. It sounds like more trouble than it's worth.  Just get a good quality RCA interconnect cable and connect it between your powered sub and your receiver's sub pre-output and you're done.


  2. You are fine running it 70 feet.  Standard RG6 or RG59 can go easily 250 feet without any signal loss.

  3. Sure just add F-connector to RCA adapters to a standard coax video cable and it will work fine at 70 ft. Or if you want to get fussy see the article at the second link.

  4. Running through AC power outlets with a convert is a really BAD idea.

    The most common source of noise in your electronic gear is 60 hz hum because of all the AC power. And subwoofers  - amplify 60 hz sound very well.

    Move the sub to the front of the room near the TV (simple solution). Or buy a long RCA cable and tack it under the base-board.
