Subwoofer crack?

I have a Rockford Fosgate P2S8 8" subwoofer and it has cracks in the middle area, not the foam part around the outside edge. Is that just a protector for the speaker underneath just for decoration, or is it ruined now?

you can carefully try to repair it,  but it will eventully with cntinued use rip even worse and start to really sound bad.
