Subwoofer enclosure help?

hey i bought 2 12" rockford fosgate p2's and they recommend a 1.79 cubic feet enclosure, i looked online and those boxes seem really small, but i have 2 subs so does that mean i double that number?

  1. If you have two subs you would need an enclosure that is 1.79 cubic foot per chamber. If it is a single chamber you could double the number.this means 3.58cuft!


  2. First, it is hard to find a prefab enclosure that will fit the recommendations of your subs.  You should have an enclosure custom built for your subs.  That will maximize your subs performance and sound much better then a prefab enclosure.

  3. Yes, this would mean each subwoofer will need 1.79 cubic feet. Best thing to do is to build your own enclosure at this spec and to fit your automobile. The best material to use is MDF panel. 3/4inch thick. You can find this at menards and most lumber yards or cabinet dealers. Go to rockfords website and they do have a enclosure guild to  help you with your enclosure size.
