Subwoofer help!?

im getting a KICKER CVR12 12" ENCLOSED CAR SUBWOOFER 2OHM LOADED BOX. i need to know a good amp that will power this well. but i dont want one that will bust them. ty

Go with a JL Audio 500/1..they will sound great and it won't blow them.

if your using a preloaded box that will be 2 ohms, than I like the Pioneer 7400d amp.  Its rated 400 watts at 2 ohms and has a price point of about $200.  Its also real small so mounting will be no problem

any amp with about 400watts RMS @ the correct impedance (1, 2, or 4ohms)

is the sub 2ohms or is it going to be 2ohms at the amp because of the wiring inside of the box- this is for a 2ohm sub

with that sub (2ohm DVC) it can be wired for impedance's of 1 or 4ohms at the amp

the lower the impedance at the amp the easier/cheaper it is to power but the lower the sound quality (here are some diagrams of how to wire it for different impedance's http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

so you need an amp with about 400watts RMS at the correct impedance (1 or 4ohms) and is also CEA-compliant which means that the amp has been tested and produces or exceeds the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion

Just buy a good name brand quality amp that pushes what the speaker is rated for bridged. And be sure its rated for the ohms as well.

i have a 12" kicker cvt, which is a shallow version of the cvr, and i run a 1000 watt kenwood amp at about 450watts to it, and it f'in bumps. If thats not wat your lookin for, this might help. Check these out!
