Question:

Subwoofer stopped working?

I just got visonik 10" subwoofers and a 1,200 watt amp put in my car yesterday, and they seemed to have stopped working, already. I had them professionally put in, and they worked just fine until I was on my way to work, this morning...

I have the amp turned really low, as suggested by the installer, and also had the bass on my stereo turned very low, as suggested, to allow them to "break in" for the first 20 hours, but then they seemed to just stop working! There is this one song that the bass would be really loud on (even though everything was turned on as low as it could go), and they seemed to stop working while this song was playing. (I had my mp3 player plugged into the stereo in my car- could this be the problem? They were doing just fine with my mp3 player before that happened..)

I spent my ENTIRE day, yesterday, throwing money at this c**p, and they end up breaking, anyways...

  1. Yeah, sometimes high boosts of bass from peaks in volume can make the amp overdrive and basically blow your sub or damage your amp. Not to mention that visonik is a very very very cheap brand (no offense) and they are known to not last very long. Try getting a new sub. Try another brand like Kicker, alpine, kenwood, jl audio. Someone who is reputable. Good luck

  2. That brand subwoofer is not built to handle a amp of that size the max is probably no more that 700 watts max. I suggest spend alittle more money and go to a car audio store, where they can help pick a better brand. Try to stay away for store that just throw the music in the car without adjusting anything like besbuy, and circuit city.
