Question:

Subwoofer to AV problem.?

An Infinity BU-1 powered sub, when connected to a Marantz SR5600 using the Low Level inputs, makes an awful buzzing and sounds like the cone is badly torn. When connected to a Nakamichi AV-1s it works perfectly. Is there a setting in the Marantz that needs changing or is it more likely that the Marantz is faulty? Both amps offer only a single RCA output, so all connections are identical. In the menu, the Sub is either present or not.

  1. The Marantz SR5600 has a dedicated Sub Woofer output, you should utilize that verses trying to connect it to inputs. The connection you are trying to use is meant to feed signals to the receiver.

That is why you hear that awful noise. It's kinda like feed-back.

Look for the rca jack labeled "SW" in the pre out area. And use a "Y-adapter" to connect the one output (sub woofer) to the stereo inputs of the sub.

    That will solve your problem,

    Peace.

  2. You might have a ground loop.

If this is the case, an item such

a ground isolator will solve your

    very annoying problem...
