Subwoofer wiring help!?

ok i got 2 subwoofers both 400rms each

this may be stupid asking but if i wire them both

togother won't it equal 800rms or does it stay at 400rms

  1. yeah they'll be 800 rms. they'll do 1600 max. have fun!


  2. adding on to what greg said you can also wire them to run at 4ohms.  only if you have 2 or more subs.

  3. If you want to drive them both at full power, you need to drive 800rms worth of power.  You also have to consider connecting them in series or parallel.  You have another problem; your amp is looking for a certain ohm speaker such as 4 ohm.  If you hook up two speakers in parallel the amp sees 2 ohms and will run hot.  If you hook them up in series the amp sees 8 ohms and again it is not balanced.  My suggestion is to hook it up the right way, each speaker with it's own amp channel.
