Question:

Subwoofers and amps?

can the amp rms wattage be higher than the subwoofer rms or vice versa........do they have to be the same? im getting two 15 inch subwoofers and they are 750 rms...i dont know if two get two amps like 900 watts each because i cant find 750s or get 1 amp that handles 1500..............PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. yep. If you set your audio propertly, your amps should be at least the same power as your subwoofer. if you don't know what are you doing, it is gonna blow up... It is only reason why some people are getting weaker amps - they are afraid of blowout.


  2. From experience, i would say get a bigger amp.On my second car I had same watts on my amp and speaker and i kept burning out my speaker. My first car i had a bigger amp and it worked fine and didn't start smoking on me. That's my experience but it could just be the brand or hook up.

  3. you can,just turn your gain down,thats what controls the maximum wattage if the amps are rated 900 rms.
