Subwoofers and wiring?

If i have two 10" subs in my car right now with an amp, and i have two 15" subs and another higher watt amp that has the same voice coils and all, can i swap them out without changing any of the old wiring?

  1. depending on the rms watts the amps are in difference and the thickness of the wire been currently used, you might want to change the wire.

    for the subs,

    i usually install 12 gauge wire if its a system running 0-1000 watts rms.

    if its over that, i install 8 gauge wire to the subs.

    this allows a much better flow of watts on them, plus they look cool instead of having the thin poor looking wires.


  2. the only thing that you might need to do is replace the power wire going to the amp, any time you get into high wattage amps, 4ga power wire is a good thing!
