Question:

Subwoofers in car not working right?

i have 2 subwoofers in my car and have had them for a year now. they worked great until now. one day they completely went out so i took them back to Best Buy (where i had them installed) and they fixed the problem. now i have a new problem just a few days later...the subs are coming in and out. what i mean is that they will be performing at what they should be and then all of a sudden in the middle of a song, they will lose about 75% of the bass. this happens to every song and they go in and out constantly.

please post what could be wrong and a way to fix it. i have a Rockford Fosgate amp and 2 MTX Audio subs. idk their specs but i do know that the amp can handle the subs. i dont want to take my car back just yet because it takes them a couple of hours and i have a job and dont have the time during my day.

thanks

  1. First need to know the model # of the subs and amp to make sure it's not a compatability problem.  Then you will need to check to make sure the wiring is correct as there are a few things that will cause that problem.

Best Buy and commercial places like that aren't always perfect in installs so post those and we can take it from there...

  2. it sounds like they may have wired the subs up incorrectly (wrong impedance at the amp), but it could be anything-- you need to tell use the model number of your amp and subs for a better answer
