Successive injury scares make Buffalo Bills centre Eric Wood even stronger – NFL News
Buffalo Bills’ centre, Eric Wood, who has suffered successive injury scares, seems to have come to the terms with them, showing to be patient with the natural recovery and rehab pace.
Within a few months of his rookie year in the National Football League (NFL), the player fractured his leg and then suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. He is yet to recover from both.
Initially, the player admitted to have been through severe frustration over the sheer amount of bad luck for being hit by so serious problems into first year of his pro career, but not anymore. He has now resigned to his recovery and rehab
in the natural flow of time and space.
He said of the situation around his first rehab:
“It definitely prepared me for this time around and helped me be more patient. I remember coming back from the leg break, I did do the minicamp for those three days just because I was dying to be back out there. This time around I’m more
patient and realizing Sept. 9 is what matters.”
The player is yet unsure about his return to the squad. He even has not tested himself in a real practice and game environment.
Eric added:
“I feel great. I’m in great shape. Obviously I haven’t tested it in any practice or anything, but a lot of that is just being cautious. We don’t want to do anything now that’ll set me back. The goal is to be back for the first game.”
Wood’s experience shows how quickly a player’s career can be derailed. The player had been praised for his durability until 49 starts of his college season and then one after another, consecutive two injuries have pushed him far back.
Bills coach, Chan Gailey, is optimistic about the player’s appearance at training camp, which will start later this month.
He said Eric is gradually returning to light workout and with the passage of time he is going to add to the force and pace in training. He should be ready by training camp, he hoped.
