Sucker Punch looks to recruit for new project, Portal 2 sells in the millions
Sucker Punch, the studio behind the InFamous series, is looking to hire some fresh blood for an as yet unannounced project.
The studio is looking for a Senior Producer, who will take over an entirely new project. According to reports the latest title, much like InFamous and InFamous 2, is set to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
The news broke after a job opening, for an Art Director, was posted on Sucker Punch’s own website. The developer is apparently looking for someone with the capability and capacity to ‘push the visual bar even higher.’
The previous InFamous games were not too easy on the eye, though the comic book styled visuals did hold a charm of their own, yet it seems that Sucker Punch want to push the boundaries with their next project.
The previous two InFamous games received majority positive reviews, with the original InFamous game nominated for quite a few awards. It’s sequel InFamous 2 also released earlier on in June and was both a commercial and critical success. However, it must
be said, that though the scale in the second game was bigger, visually it was still on the same level as its predecessor.
Fans and pundits have already started speculating what the new project could be. There is a strong chance it might even be the next in the InFamous series, while the chances of the job opening having something to do with the teased Sly Cooper: Thieves in
Time, as well. The latter was teased at the, recently concluded, Electronic Entertainment Expo and received a warm response.
However, it is just as likely that the studio could very well be working on an entirely new project altogether. There is nothing to confirm at this point in time, other than the fact that Sucker Punch are laying the foundation to go big on their next title,
whatever it may be.
Moving on from what may one day become a success, to a game that has achieved success – in the millions! Portal 2 has sold over three million copies worldwide, far out selling its predecessor, making it a huge commercial success.
The figure was released by Gabe Newell, the man behind games developer Valve, whilst he was speaking at a conference at Games for Learning Institute. He explained that game’s did not have to be all about violence and that they could actually test people’s
aptitude.
While Portal 2 may have sold around three million copies, the original game; Portal, has over four million sales to its name.
All in all, Valve must feel like a proud parent who has given birth to, not one but, two of the gaming world’s favourite children.
