  1. An easy way to do it is to fill the hose with water by letting the water run through it until there are no more bubbles.  Then, hold both ends at the same level so that the water doesn't flow out of the lower end.

It is easier if you have two people and you get one to go downhill while holding the hose end up high so that the water doesn't leak out.  Then you drop one end into the pool and let the lower end down quickly.  The water should flow just fine.

If you have a large piece of screen, you can make a filter and place it around the end going into the pool with some tape, and that should keep any large pieces of gunk from going into the hose and stopping the flow of water.

Once you get it going, you need to make sure the end in the pool doesn't suck air, or you will have to do the same process again.  You can tape a rock to the hose end that goes into the pool to help keep that end in the pool.

Remember, once you get the flow going, you can actually lift water.  But, you will need to have the outlet portion of the hose much lower than the bottom of the pool to drain it completely.

Another approach is to buy a pump which will fit on a drill motor.  They aren't very expensive.

    Good luck.

  2. You can still use that method.  Just make sure you take your mouth off before the water gets to the end of the hose. (Get a big hose.)

  3. Dunk the whole hose, starting with one end.

After it's all submerged, put your hand on the upper end to cap it, pull it out (with hand still capping), put it where the water is supposed to go, and remove hand.
