Question:

Sudden Abnormality in my periods

The last few months Ive had the onset of an abnormal (at least for me) period. I haven't changed anything in my life, it just came out of no where! For the last 7-8 years my periods have been like clock work every 28 days and bled for 5 days.

I had a normal period then all of sudden 20 days after the first day of that last period i was spotting (about 3 days, and nothing heavy, just enough for a liner) Then a week later I would start my period and it would last 10 days!!

Usually it wouldn't be a big deal but my husband and I are trying to conceive once again and I believe my ovulation is occurring during my bleeding or not at all. (I used some ovulation predictors this last round with no success) Don't really want to make a doctors appointment unless absolutely necessary (since 1 I don't have one and 2 this sort of thing would be OBGYN material and I live in a small town where they don't have any!)

Anyone else have this sort of problem? If so, what was it caused from? or perhaps anyone know what in the world is going on?!

Thanks

  1. It is not uncommon for a woman's cycle to go through many changes throughout her lifetime, even after being very regular for an extended time. It is more common in the "peri-menopausal" years, usually beginning around age 35, but there are many things that can cause a disruption in your cycle, endometriosis, for one, but also other reasons that are just "normal" fluctuations. I wouldn't worry, but I would make an appointment to see an OBGYN if you can, especially if you are trying to conceive.
