Question:

Sudden onset of allergies?

seemed to have developed sudden allergies. All of a sudden certain perfumes irritate me. Laundry detergents make me itch and even some mixed drinks make me itch after I drink them. I have always been somewhat sensitive to perfumes in my face lotion ( makes me break out in zits) but never to all this other stuff. I am 42. What could be going on?

  1. Sounds to me like multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).  A lot of folks seem to be a lot more intolerant of the chemicals in our everyday environment.  There is a two point reason for this

One...we have more man made chemicals in our day to day lives than ever before.  These chemicals are very toxic and put a strain on our detox systems, causing our bodies to need incredibly high levels of detox nutrients.

Two...at the same time as the presence of chemicals create a greater need for certain nutrients, our food supply is becoming more and more devoid of nutrients, creating a shortfall.  There are many reasons why our food is less nutritious.  If you want more information about that, let me know.

There are many things you can do to improve your situation.  Eliminate all man made chemicals from your home.  Not an easy feat.  A book called "Home Safe Home" by Deborah Lynn Dadd is a good resource to get you started on this task.

Improve your nutritional status, especially your intake of detox nutrients.  Many products are on the market that are for the purpose of detox...be careful when choosing, do your research.  Doctor Sherry Rogers, an allopathic physician who has suffered severe MCS, has written many books on the subject.  Her book "Detoxify or Die" gives guidelines for using sauna therapy to help detox the body.  She also lists (in this book) the major nutrients the body needs to detox, and has a couple of nutrient 'recipes' that are amazing at giving really fast relief.

MCS tends to continue to escalate until/unless you become proactive in eliminating as many toxins as you can from your home and work space while improving your dietary status through a healthy diet and appropriate supplements.

  2. You are right.  Perfumes can also cause allergy.  The effects of perfumes can make you blind, always sneezy, make your eyes swollen sometimes, and can even cause rashes.

Kindly eliminate the use of perfumes so as to live a normal and healthy life.

    Take care and GOD BLESS>
